FA Cup Odds Make Manchester Clubs Favourites Ahead Of Quarter Finals

 Subscribe in a reader

The FA Cup Quarter Finals take place this weekend and there look to be some interesting ties, the highlight of which is no doubt the meeting of the current top two sides in the Premiership, Manchester United and Arsenal. That is not the only game to look forward to in Manchester, the only remaining Championship side left in the competition, Reading, take on Man City on Sunday.

The early kick off on Saturday sees Carling Cup winners Birmingham return to cup action against Bolton. Birmingham slipped into the bottom three last week but they have largely been solid at home, losing just over a quarter of their games at St Andrews. Bolton have struggled away from home in the league but seem to manage ok in the FA Cup, their last two wins in the competition have come on the road. This should be a very tight game and a draw might be the best call at around 23/10.

The evening game on Saturday is the game that is most likely to involve the winners of the competition. FA Cup favourites Man Utd, who are 12/5 to go all the way this year, play host to Arsenal who are rated at 7/2 with the bookies to win the FA Cup. If they can beat Man Utd they would surely become the favourites but that is a tough task at Old Trafford, where Man Utd have dropped just two points in the league all season. Despite two recent losses United are fancied to win the match at just over even money.

The first of the Sunday matches is Stoke versus West Ham and this looks possibly the most open of all the Quarter Finals. Stoke are generally very good at home but they have struggled for results recently, winning just once in six league matches. West Ham meanwhile are starting to pick up wins and with both sides looking to have good claims the draw is probably the best option at 12/5. The other Sunday game will see Man City take on Reading. City go into this game as strong favourites at just 2/5, Reading have proved themselves a tough team to beat in the competition but their great run is likely to come to an end.

Manchester United to Win Premier League

It’s that time of year again when the battle for the English Premier League is heating right up and the battle for the title is well under way. With Manchester United sitting pretty at the top of the table, four points ahead of Arsenal and with a game in hand over Man City and Spurs, they look good to hang on but four points is absolutely nothing in footballing terms and a couple of bad games could spell disaster for them.

Of the back of barely scraping through to the next round of the FA Cup, by beating Crawley Town 1-0, United need to have a serious re-think about the next few months. Things are mixed at United these days. On the positive side, new contracts have been signed Evra and Ryan Giggs which means the 37-year-old will take his time at Old Trafford into a remarkable 21st year, having made his club debut as a substitute on 2 March, 1991.

Of course, there’s also issues surrounding Park being injured, Rooney allegedly being black-mailed, a packed League, Champions League and FA Cup schedule and Ferguson’s outspoken fury at ticket prices for the Champions League final in Wembley (the cheapest tickets on general sale for the 28 May final will cost

Leicester v Manchester City Preview

Big spenders Manchester City travel to the Walkers Stadium here where their former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will act as host. City boss Roberto Mancini has already hailed Eriksson’s influence on his career although he won’t be giving away any favours here as he bids to land silverware in the Eastlands trophy cabinet this season.

Leicester have certainly experienced something of a strange season and their supporters just don’t know what’s going to happen next. After a dreadful opening start to the campaign under Paulo Sousa, the club were taken over and veteran Eriksson was handed the reigns as manager. At the moment, that appointment seems to have been a success and as the Foxes progress onto the second part of the campaign, they sit in a comfortable 12th position. Just four points separate them from the top six and considering some of their transfers already, they are only going to get better. They come into this game on the back of consecutive victories as well, giving them a huge amount of confidence as they entertain City’s multi-million stars.

Patience isn’t often given to the top clubs, although even Manchester City’s owners will be impressed at the speed in which Roberto Mancini’s new side has gelled. Despite assembling most of the squad only recently, the Citizens are 2nd in the table just two points behind the league leaders. Admittedly, they have played two games more than Manchester United, but they definitely look to have replaced Liverpool as one of the

Arsenal vs Manchester City preview 2011

Posted on January 03rd, 2011 in English Premiership

Game :- Arsenal vs Man City

Emirates Stadium, London

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Kick off :- 19.45 UK

A crucial Premier League game sees third placed Arsenal take on second placed Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Bet on Arsenal vs Manchester City with PaddyPower after reading our preview at sportsbookie.com

Arsenal emerged 3-0 winners over Birmingham City in their weekend fixture and in the process became only the second league team to come away with St.Andrews’ with a win this season. The dominating manner of the win would have pleased Arsene Wenger especially after a horrendous defensive mistake saw them draw 2-2 at Wigan Athletic in the game before.

Midfielder Abou Diaby, defenders Thomas Vermaelen and Kieran Gibbs and goalkeeper Manuel Almunia remain sidelined through injury for Arsenal.

Arsenal form- last five games- most recent first- Arsenal scorers in brackets-

Birmingham 0-3 Arsenal ( Fabregas, Samir Nasri, OG)
Wigan 2-2 Arsenal ( Andrei Arshavin, Nicklas Bendtner)
Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea ( Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott)
Man United 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal 3-1 Partizan ( Van Persie, Walcott, Samir Nasri)

Manchester City edged out Blackpool last weekend to keep pace with local rivals Manchester United at the top of the table. However City have played one game more than Arsenal and two more than United going into the midweek round of fixtures.

City could afford a penalty miss from Carlos Tevez as they beat Blackpool 1-0. Mario Balotelli, who was rested against Blackpool after his h’trick against Aston Villa, will miss this fixture because of a knee injury. The same goes for playmaker David Silva, who has been in good nick in the last few games.

Fact :- Manchester City have not won away at Arsenal since October 1975.

West Ham United vs Manchester City – Betting Preview

Game:- West Ham United vs Manchester City
Competition :- Barclays Premier League
Venue :- Upton Park
Date :- Saturday, 11 December 2010
KO time:- 15:00 BST

West Ham play host to Roberto Mancini’s side on Saturday. As Mancini’s side look to consolidate on their fourth position in the table and get in contention for the Premier League title, West Ham hope to move northward from the bottom of the league table. On paper, there’s nothing to stop Manchester City from taking all three points. But the Hammers can be ‘tricky’ opposition as Spurs have found out already this season. Bet on this tie with our preferred bookmakers – 12Bet and 10Bet.

Blackpool vs Manchester United preview

Blackpool vs Manchester United

Saturday, 4th December 2010

Bloomfield Road, Blackpool

15.00 UK time kick off.

Blackpool’s biggest home game of 2010 sees the Premier League newboys host Manchester United this Saturday. Bet on Blackpool vs Manchester United after reading our betting preview.

Despite being tipped as contenders for the drop, Blackpool have performed quite well this season and are sitting in a comfortable mid table position at this moment ( 11th in the table). However the tight nature of the Premier League means that while Ian Holloway’s side are only a point behind Europe chasing Sunderland, they are also only five above the relegation zone.

Blackpool drew 2-2 with Bolton Wanderers in their last game. The Seasiders had the match in their grasp as they lead 2-0 with a quarter of an hour to go, but they allowed Bolton to net twice late in the fixture and grab a 2-2 draw.

Blackpool form- last five games- most recent first- Blackpool scorers in brackets-

Bolton 2-2 Blackpool ( Ian Evatt, Luke Varney)
Blackpool 2-1 Wolves ( Luke Varney, Marlon Harewood)
West Ham 0-0 Blackpool
Aston Villa 3-2 Blackpool ( Marlon Harewood, DJ Campbell)
Blackpool 2-2 Everton ( Neal Eardley, David Vaughan)

Manchester United lead the Premier League after thrashing Blackburn 7-1 last weekend. The Red Devils lead Chelsea by two points after the latter could only draw against Newcastle United.

However United suffered a shock defeat in midweek as they were beaten 4-0 by West Ham United in the Carling Cup. While the squad was by no means United’s strongest squad, the manner in which they conceded the goals would have been a real concern to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Roberto Mancini’s side was criticized for a “boring” performance in the Manchester derby. But the Blues are expected to be firing on all cylinders when they host Birmingham City on Saturday. English Premiere League – Manchester ties game with Fulham

by Stephen Lars on Aug.24, 2010, under Soccer

The guys over at Manchester United might end up regretting the 2 points they speared on this Sundays English Premiere League game. Alex Ferguson, who has been around the football world long enough, knows very well that at the end, those two silly points, as he said, might comeback and chase them much.

Ferguson kept his calmness throughout the post-game interview. But you could see in his face that he was a bit infuriated by what had just happened. Lets not forget whom we are talking about here, this is no newbie coach, Ferguson has been the head coach of Manchester United since 1986, and is one of the most successful professional coaches in the world.

Now, lets take a look at the situation in this game. Manchester United was clearly a more dominant team, but it seemed as if they were unable to really bring in the plays that would secure their advantage. For starters, it was Fulham’s own defender who scored the first goal. Brede Hangeland, the Norwegian defender, had given united an 84 minute long advantage when unintentionally he deflected a ball into his own net.

Things were fine up to that point, but it was Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha, better known in the football-betting world as Nani, who missed a penalty kick late in the game. This would have meant securing a 3-1 advantage for Mancehster United with only 10 minutes remaining in the game.

And yet soccer is a beautiful game, and it usually gives players a chance to amend their errors. But it was not Nanni, the Portuguese winger, who came up with a glorious redemption goal, but rather the Norwegian defender Hangeland who made up for his early own goal. At the last minute, from a corner kick shot, Hangeland was able to clear himself from two Manchester United defenders and complete a header to tie the game.

Paul Scholes, the 35 year-old veteran scored the second goal for Manchester United from a 23 meter distance. Scholes is one of those few one-club-men, and has been playing for Manchester United since 1994. It is good to see that despite the years he is still bringing in good things from the midfield.

Simon Davies from Fulham made it 2-1 early in the second half. Bobby Zamora made a great solo play and open up a shooting chance that Davies completed vigorously. That gave Fulham the chance to get back in the game. As reported it was Hangeland who concluded the game with his header to make it 2-2.

Chelsea keeps its winning streak

On the other hand, two days earlier, it was defending Premiere League champions, Chelsea, who made the difference over in the football championship. They guys from Chelsea were able to complete a 6-0 win over at Wigan and now stand as the only team with a perfect record after two official games. That gives Chelsea six points on the general standings, and after their last minute tie, now Manchester United holds 4 points and ties in second with other four teams.

Soccer Betting – Free-Spending City Welcomes Liverpool To Manchester

 Subscribe in a reader

NCAA football betting players have the recruiting window, but in European soccer, there’s no recruiting, only transfers, and Manchester City has spent well over $150 million this summer in the transfer market.  However, they needed a massive performance from their goalkeeper to avoid a loss in their opening game, and now they’ll have their home opener at the City of Manchester Stadium against Liverpool, who were unlucky to take only a point from their first game.
