Forest snap up Ramsey

Nottingham Forest have moved quickly to bring in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey on a short-term loan deal. The Gunners have allowed the youngster to go out on loan so he can work on his fitness and get some first team action under his belt. Arsenal confirmed the move was to allow Ramsey to “gain match fitness and sharpness”.

The Welsh international has only just returned to action after nine months on the sidelines following his horrific broken leg sustained against Stoke in February. Ramsey made his comeback last week, playing 45 minutes for Arsenal’s reserves against Wolves. Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger feels Ramsey will benefit more from competitive league football rather than reserve team action.

It could be a dangerous move from Wenger, sending a recently recovered Ramsey into the physical Championship, although the football betting picks still suggest he will do well. The 19-year-old will still be quite the coup for Forest despite his lack of football this year. Despite his tender age, Ramsey has clocked up more than 50 appearances in the Gunners first team, scoring five times. His injury didn’t deter Arsenal from offering him a new long term contract in the summer, the club clearly rate the youngster highly and they have seen their fair share of talented kids.

During his time at Cardiff, Ramsey showed he can handle the physicality of the Championship and the soccer betting odds suggest he will do so again.

His return to Championship football could come on Monday, when his new side travel to Leicester, looking to build on last weekend’s morale boosting away win at Ramsey’s old club Cardiff.
