Manchester United v. Tottenham Hotspur
Saturday October 30, 12:30 ET

The month of October is slowly coming to an end, but the world of sports betting is heating up with tons of action for all fans. The NBA season has at last begun, while professional football in getting ready for Week Eight action and you can bet on NFL match-ups every Sunday. Another league that has just gotten underway is hockey, and with daily games its important to stay on top of NHL scores. Meanwhile, Soccer betting is also available for both Major League Soccer and leagues in Europe.

Two of the top teams in the English Premiership do battle in a feature game Saturday evening in Old Trafford as Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur. Through nine games in the young season, the two teams have moved up the table in familiar territory where they stayed all of last season. The Spurs have four wins and three draws for 15 points to sit in fifth position, while Manchester United is just better with four wins and five draws for 17 points and a third position.

The Spurs visit a stadium that has not been hospitable to them. They have not won at Old Trafford since 1989. Still yet Tottenham is optimistic as United have been good but not great all year, conceding five draws on the year.

After giving West Ham United their only win of the year, losing 1-0 on the road, Tottenham have not lost in three, beating Aston Villa, Fulham, and drawing Everton. The home draw, however, followed a tough loss to Internazionale in Champions League play where they gave up four goals in the first 35 minutes and were really never close to drawing despite the 4-3 score.

Manchester meanwhile snapped their three game draw streak, which saw them concede two late goals to West Bromwich at Old Trafford, with a win on the road versus Stoke City 2-1. Yet once again United gave up the late lead. Javier Hernandez opened the scoring, but Tuncay Sanli tied the game for Stoke City in the 81st minute. Hernandez responded once more though minutes later to at last ensure Manchester a full three points.

They do have a short turnaround though with Carling Cup action midweek as United beat Wolverhampton 3-2. And once again the club gave up the tying goal late and was forced to score once more to win. Wolverhampton tied the game in the 60th minute, and then again in the 76th minute. Hernandez was the hero once more with a goal in stoppage time.

United have scored 8 more goals on the year than Tottenham, but their defense has proven porous. The Spurs can keep it close and have a chance for an upset.

Betting lines: At home Manchester United are the big favourites and rightly so. They have yet to lose all season and are mighty good at home. Turbulent off field news seems to have subsided and they are looking to get closer to rival Chelsea. The Spurs have been stumbling and may not have enough. Man U wins at home in a low scoring game.
