College Basketball Review: Navy-Texas Random Thoughts

I just finished re-watching the Navy-Texas game from Monday night. It’s always good to get that second viewing to really hone in on the specifics of how things are rolling. I know it is only one game, against an inferior opponent, but here are some snap thoughts about the Longhorns:

- I think that this team is going to have a lot of the same issues that it had last year. That’s to say that this will be a pretty good team this year. They’ll hang around the Top 25, flirt with being in the Big 12 race, make the NCAA Tournament but not survive the opening weekend. I think that’s the ceiling for this team for a variety of reasons. They have the potential and certainly the talent to surprise me. But they have a long way to go - particularly learning to play together - before they can tap that potential.

- First, the most important player on this team is Jordan Hamilton. If he is aggressive on offense

Random Thoughts From Bengals-Browns

I just got done breaking down tape of the Bengals-Browns upset on Sunday. Here are just some random thoughts about the game:

– This was really just another vintage Bungles loss. They outgained Cleveland by 120 yards but lost because of just the dumb things that they do. And it is not just the mistakes; every team makes mistakes. The problem with Cincinnati is that their mistakes always come at the absolute worst times.

For instance, right before the end of the half they have a shot to kick a field goal, go up three points, and really get momentum after they were knocked around in the first half.
