Fulham F.C. is the oldest professional football league team to be based in London. Founded in 1879 and nicknamed ‘The Whites’ but more often ‘The Cottagers’ after the Craven Cottage ground where they have played since 1896. Admitted to the national Football League in 1907/8 season they spent their early years playing in the Second and Third divisions.
In 1949 they were promoted to the First Division and in 1950 they signed Johnny Haynes, A schoolboy at the time, he would spend 20 years at Fulham becoming their greatest ever goalscorer and earning the nickname Mr Fulham. Haynes would go on to be an England Captain earning 52 caps and was the first football player ever to earn
