With the Premier League as usual gearing up to lose three sides at the end of the campaign, the question that neutral fans are being asked is which team they would like to see survive, and which side they wouldn’t miss watching compete on a weekly basis in the top flight of the English game.
Although football fans never actually enjoy seeing a club relegated or suffering ill fortune, there are some clubs that fans don’t quite take to as much as others, and, on the other hand, some that become instant hits due to the manner in which they appeal to fans’ imaginations. The Premier League best odds suggest a whole host of teams could go down this season.
Take Hull City as an example. They became hate figures because their manager at the time, Phil Brown, behaved like an idiot and saw all the early credibility and respect sent their way immediately upon their promotion diminished. With Brown’s behaviour almost forcing neutrals to will the club to relegation, this year the Hull City of the relegation battle is not so easy to identify.
That said, there are a couple of clubs that seem to do what it takes to make fans keen to see their survival, and this year the club that deserves this label most of all is surely Blackpool after the first team managed to string together a run of displays that forced many to view them as perhaps the most exciting and watchable side in the league. The Premier League betting offers suggest they could be in trouble though.
However, the opposite side to this has been shown, in many fans’ opinion, by Wigan, a club that seems to offer almost nothing to the Premier League and yet continues to survive year after year.
Ultimately, despite all the debate, feelings and hopes, this will have almost nothing to do in the end with the final relegation picture, as only points will help to save troubled teams now.
