AINTREE: Legends race for Bob Champion's Cancer Trust

Bob Champion: raised £12million

PICTURE: Edward Whitaker  The Flat race, which will also bring out ten-time Irish champion Charlie Swan and eight-time British champion Peter Scudamore, is being staged to raise funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, which was founded in 1983 and has raised £12 million.

Champion, who this year completed a fundraising tour of British racecourses, said: "The 1981 Grand National was a remarkable day, not just for me, but for all of those around the world who gained hope from my victory in their personal battles against cancer. "Thirty years on, I want to continue to reduce the odds against cancer with the money this race raises."
