Leeds v Hull Preview

With Leeds only just entering the division following their promotion and Hull just coming down from the Premiership, obvious conclusions about how these sides would fare this season could be made. However, it’s Leeds in fact who are performing the best with the Whites all the way up in 8th while Hull are scrapping down at the bottom in 20th place.

Like a lot of teams in and around the top six, Leeds have been fairly inconsistent this term but that’s completely understandable considering they were in League One last season. Having lost back-to-back games to Leicester and Cardiff, Simon Grayson’s men had slipped down the table but they’ve bounced back emphatically and come into this game on the back of consecutive victories against Scunthorpe and Coventry. Both of those opponents were in good form themselves and with Leeds scoring seven goals in total in those games, it looks as though the Elland Road outfit are back to their best. Just one point separates them the top six and with the division being so tight, they could even find themselves in 4th spot should they pull a victory out of the bag here.

It’s a completely different story for Hull meanwhile, who seem to be in all sorts of problems. The Tigers are slowly slipping down the table and should results go against them tonight, they could find themselves in the bottom three. Pearson’s men are only kept out of the relegation zone due to goal difference and for a side who were last season plying their trade in the Premier League, that is clearly unacceptable. They also come into this game on the back of some truly awful results and having won just once in their last nine, the form book is completely against them. Another thing against them is history, with the Tigers having just two victories at Leeds since being formed
