Norwich v Leicester Preview

There has been speculation in some newspapers over the last few days that Leicester manager Paulo Sousa is on the verge of losing his job after the poor start that the Foxes have made to the season. The Walkers Stadium outfit are rooted to the bottom of the table and certainly won’t have an easy task when they travel to face a newly promoted Norwich side who sit in 6th.

Norwich may have a decent league standing to their name, but Paul Lambert is a difficult man to please and there’s no doubt that he won’t be pleased with the last few results. The Canaries have lost two of their last three games and with both of those opponents being below them in the table, their supporters will certainly view them as points dropped. However, Lambert comes into this game knowing that the Canaries haven’t lost back to back fixtures since he took over last season. They were slightly unlucky after conceding two late goals to Hull in their last outing and with that, you don’t expect this poor form to continue.

Leicester on the other hand are in all sorts of problems. Having made the playoffs last season, this term looks completely different for the Foxes and their supporters must be mystified as to what has happened at the Walkers Stadium. Expectations were high when the club recruited Paulo Sousa, yet the former Swansea boss has failed to make an impact and the club sit bottom of the league having collected just five points, with a goal difference of -11. At the back they are disastrous and with their goals against column reading as eighteen, they statistically have the worst defence in the league. There have been strong rumours that Sousa is fighting for his job and should they experience defeat here, the outlook may not be so bright for the former Portugal midfielder.

As for team news, Norwich come into this fixture with no fresh concerns. Paul Lambert still has a few long term absentees such as Andrew Surman, Michael Nelson, Steven Smith and Zak Whitbread but other than that, the Canaries boss has nothing new to worry about. The visitors on the other hand will not be able to play Miguel Vitor who sits out through suspension after a red card. However, it’s likely that Paulo Sousa will make even more changes in the wake of the 6-1 humbling to fellow strugglers Portsmouth.

As for a prediction, we can only tip the home side here. Lambert’s men may have lost two of their last three games but their opponents are in a much worse predicament and with that, we foresee nothing but a home victory
