Flintoff has no natural replacement – but that’s okay

Flintoff is an undisputed Ashes legend. In the 2005 series he was sublime: England’s third highest scorer, contributing 402 runs, and top bowler with a return of 24 wickets. In 2006 he was plagued by niggling injuries, and his return was greatly diminished, but in 2009, he was back to help England regain the Ashes trophy with a man of the match performance at Lords in the Second Test Match, and a phenomenal run-out on the final day of the fifth Test to send Ricky Ponting back to the pavilion.
Flintoff holds the record for the most sixes scored for England, beating Ian Botham’s record, and despite a career ravaged by ankle injuries and a chequered disciplinary history, he remains the 10th highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 218. Put simply he is a legend; a true one-off.
As a result, England must not waste their time looking for his replacement
