Could Liverpool get relegated?

It may appear a totally absurd question to many with a seemingly obvious answer and if asked at the start of the season, the response would have been a quick and unhesitating one. However, seven games in to the new season and the possibility of Liverpool FC being relegated from the Premier League doesn’t seem as alien as it should.

Widely acknowledged as one of the most successful clubs in the English game and a world wide brand, Liverpool has become synonymous with success and is a team automatically associated to be challenging for major honours. However, recent events at Anfield have acted as an alarming warning of just what can happen to a football team if it falls in to the wrong hands.

Seven games in to the new Premier League season, Liverpool find themselves with just one league win and in the relegation zone. Fans would probably cite the home defeat by Blackpool as the lowest point in years on the pitch but little could they imagine of what was about to unfold off the pitch in the days that followed that embarrassing loss at the hands of the top flight’s newcomers.
