There is just something a little extra special about some Afternoon Delight. It’s a little awkward. It’s a little unexpected. But it’s thrilling in that it’s a little break from the norm.
I’m talking about some playoff baseball and postseason or significant sports events that start in the afternoon. What did you think I meant?
One of my favorite things about the MLB postseason is afternoon playoff baseball. No matter what sport it is, there’s just something curious and exhilarating about a significant sports game that you watch in the afternoon. We got to experience it all summer with the World Cup. Tell me you didn’t love the start times? And then there is March Madness, with the conference tournaments and the Big Dance featuring those random noon tip-offs. There is nothing not awesome about that and serious games like that have just a different feel to them when they are played in the afternoon.
The 2010 MLB playoffs begin on Wednesday at 1:30 with Texas heading to Tampa Bay for what is, in my mind, the most intriguing series in either league in the Wild Card round. That is followed up by a dinnertime start (5 p.m.) between the Reds and Phillies and then a nightcap with the Yankees and Twins.
You can find MLB playoff odds and winning MLB playoff predictions at Doc’s Sports. In the meantime, below are the odds to win each series, to win the American League and National League pennant, and to win the World Series:
