Is Tiger set to play a bit part?

Posted on September 14th, 2010 in Sports Betting Blog

While many Team USA fans remain unhappy that Tiger Woods has made this year’s Ryder Cup side, despite the fact that the world number one continues to remain capable of producing performances that are almost unplayable against if he can just reach top form again after a difficult year, the player may find himself performing a far more limited role than he’s familiar with in Team USA’s quest to retain the famous Cup.

With the USA team captain and those looking at Ryder cup 2010 betting prices well aware that Woods is playing at nothing like his best, Corey Pavin has suggested that whilst he is prepared to play Woods for five games, he is also not afraid to play him for just three, something that would have been considered unthinkable at any other Ryder Cup that the Tiger has taken part in to date in his glittering career.

With Woods having only ever taken part in one Team USA triumph (back in 1999), he will be all too aware that he and his side are more up against it than in any other competition he has taken part in, with some European commentators effectively suggesting that a victory for Europe will occur just through the side turning up at Celtic Manor.

Despite the uncertainty over the amount of matches that Woods will take part in likely to linger for some time, Pavin will know that whether it turns out to be three, four, or five matches that feature Tiger, he’ll need to be at something approaching his very best form if he is to help Team USA overcome the direction of most Ryder Cup bets and hold on to the trophy that they won on American soil only two years ago.

Should Tiger reach the lofty heights that we all know he can reach, he’ll know that he will have gone some way towards repaying the faith Pavin has shown in him over the past couple of weeks.
