Halford said on Tuesday: "He had a lot of options after the National Stakes, but we decided this morning to supplement for the Beresford. I'm very pleased with him since his run and he's working very well."

The 78 initial entries were on Tuesday whittled down to 14, plus Casamento, whose connections stumped up €10,000 to enter at the last possible moment.

Dunboyne Express, as short as 14-1 for the 2,000 Guineas, was the most notable absentee, but trainer Kevin Prendergast could still be represented by Longhunter.

Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien holds eight entries - Eskimo, Factum, Long Live The King, Master Of Hounds, Robin Hood, Samuel Morse, unraced Seville and Treasure Beach.
